The Bertulfo Family

welcome to our homepage

Our family picture... the only one I have of the Bertulfo's...

My parents are Corazon de Jesus Mansuelto Bertulfo of Leyte and the former Segundina Cubacha of San Narciso, Zambales.

I have four brothers: Jesus, Roberto, Andrew and Junard. Each of one of us has our very own family... We're scattered all over the globe... Jesus and Junard in Japan, Roberto and my parents in Virginia, USA... and Andrew in Australia... I don't know when we'll be able to see everybody together...
Any suggestions on how to have a
reunion?
(We haven't had one!)

Corazon de Jesus Mansuelto Bertulfo
my father

The earliest memories of my Dad were that he worked hard for his family. Every morning when we needed water to drink, he'll ride his bicycle to work and bring home 2-4 gallons of drinking water and he did this for years. I don't recall him missing work unless he's sick or extreme circumstances will not allow it-- which were rare... If he is indebted to anyone, even when it seemed trivial, at the earliest opportunity, he would repay his debt in full. He is very friendly. His motto could be "to have a friend, be a friend". As I recall-- he has been a boxer, a gang member, shoeshiner, an errand man, a gardener, a typist, and he retired as customer service representative. He is loyal-- he won't leave a company unless they lay him off, the company dissolves, fires him (which hasn't happened), or he has to relocate

Segundina Cubacha
my mother

My Mom. She is an artist... Ever since I was a kid, her hands were always busy doing something-- crocheting, sewing... She sewed all my clothes when I was growing up, even our neighbors clothes: prom dresses, gowns or just ordinary blouses and skirts (these are without patterns... She'll take note of your measurements then do everything right on the fabric...) I remember her crocheting beautiful bed covers, curtains, table covers, doilies, even clothes. She is a very talented woman. She can also cook. I didn't know it then, but now I miss her cooking very much... She may have just finished 6th grade, but she's smart...

Jesus
my brother

My oldest brother... My recollection about this brother of mine was that He was very organize... He had his own dresser and he knew when somebody been messing up with his stuff.... He was grown and I remember being small. I recall him trying to be a carpenter (and he fell 15 feet high to the ground and was knocked unconscious), an electrician, as well as a booby-trap man (like when my parents left to go to Manila, and he built this thing that when you open the door you'll get hit by a 2x4 wood-- i think that wat it was... luckily My Uncle was able to get away from it unharmed... he he he)

Roberto
my brother

Here is my musically inclined brother... He loves to play his guitar and listen to music: rock n' roll, pop, ballad, etc... (but I haven't seen him listen to classical music... i don't think he knew it!) He cooked for the whole family and took care of us when our parents are away as did my other older brothers. He had lots of women friends and they like him! I never realized how tall I was till we met just recently since 1992... he he he! He looks like my baby brother even though he's 8 years older than me... like a teen-ager (and sometimes acts like one, too... he he he)

Andrew
my brother

I haven't met this brother of mine since I left the Philippines... I am happy for the telephone! ('cause we can't afford to go to Australia yet... maybe in the future-- looking forward to it!) He had lots of friends and they always go outing and have parties... But I hadn't seen them do bad stuff! They just wanted to be together and have fun... I remember him teaching me the alphabet and getting mad at me 'cause I didn't get it right many times... he he he... Andrew is an artist. He could draw using charcoal, pencil, anything he can get a hold of and he could paint, too... I said to myself, when I grow up I want to draw like him... He even tried sewing. He did his Karate uniform... and I'm impressed. I watched him make a birthday certificate for his friend using calligraphy and he could really wrap presents. I remember watching him wrapped a gift and make it look like a giant candy, he even used a newspaper (that I thought was very creative and it looked great, too).

Junard
my brother

Here's Junard, my youngest brother... It seemed like he brought the most excitement to my parents... he he he... My parents are always called to the principal's office 'cause "he has a mind of his own". He is very opinionated and is also very eager to learn when he sets his mind to it... He was a young entrepreneur. I recall he sold buko ice cream (young coconut ice cream) to earn spending money. His sales route covered several blocks... He would often stop by our house 'cause we were his best customers... he he he...
